Academic Culture

黑料网911offers a focused and immersive experience for students, blending rigorous coursework with hands-on learning opportunities to deepen understanding of both academic subjects and the local culture.

黑料网911courses typically run from Monday through Thursday, providing students with a concentrated schedule that allows for intensive study and exploration. This condensed format encourages students to fully engage with the material and make the most of their time.

In addition to lectures, 黑料网911courses often incorporate local co-curricular activities, providing students with firsthand exposure to the rich cultural heritage and diverse landscapes. These experiences not only enhance academic learning but also foster a deeper appreciation and understanding of the local context.

Attendance is considered mandatory for 黑料网911courses. This emphasizes the importance of active participation and engagement in the learning process, encouraging students to fully commit to their academic pursuits.

Arizona State University: Most ASU online courses are asynchronous. You may find yourself in classes with students from ASU, other American universities, and students from around the world. You鈥檒l receive direct and individualized support from faculty, 100% online.

Class Format

Each 黑料网911course is a full semester in content, covered in a 6-week block, so the pace is accelerated, and the workload is demanding. Courses are designed to follow U.S. academic culture and standards. The class environment typically features a combination of traditional lecture and discussion with co-curricular excursions and activities. Courses are typically exclusive to 黑料网911students, though they may also be made available to participants from other 黑料网911programs.

Classes are scheduled Monday-Thursday and meet three or four times per week. Internship placement may require Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends. Therefore, interns are typically discouraged from taking Japanese language classes on site for the duration of their internships as the language course schedule is Monday through Thursday, four times per week, which limits the number of full workdays students may allocate toward their on-site internship.

Attendance is strictly enforced both for classes and required co-curricular excursions. Students should expect an average of two hours of preparation required for each hour in class. Instruction is supported and augmented online with our learning management system, Canvas.

ASU online courses meet in 鈥渟essions鈥 that are 6-weeks long in the semester, and all work must be completed within the session dates regardless of when your other 黑料网911courses begin or end.

Grading

黑料网911reports all final course grades to students鈥 home institutions using a U.S. letter grade equivalent scale of A-F. For CIEE-administered courses, students鈥 grades are based on attendance, class engagement, homework, project work, presentations, and midterm and final examinations. Learning outcomes assessment is continuous through personal reflections, evaluation feedback, self-assessment, and requirements as set out in course syllabi. The embedded internship course will be assessed in assignments and activities, completion of 100-120 internship hours, and feedback from the internship supervisor.

ASU grading follows the same format and standards as ASU courses taught in-person. 鈥淧ass/fail鈥 or 鈥淎udit鈥 is not allowed for 黑料网911students.

Individual courses may have additional prerequisites; for 黑料网911courses, these are listed in the syllabi below.
