黑料网911Dublin: Study in the heart of Dublin鈥檚 lively south central district, five minutes from the River Liffey and Merrion Square. 黑料网911Dublin features three classrooms and a student lounge and is conveniently near a mix of independent caf茅s, bakeries, and stores.

University College Dublin (UCD)鈥痠s located less than three miles from the center of Dublin, and offers 60 sports clubs, 100 societies and clubs, and an active student union. UCD is ranked in the top 1% of universities internationally and hosts more than 30,000 students, 27% of which are international. 

GPA

Students need to have a GPA of at least 3.0. University College Dublin maintains the final decision of admission to the program.

Language Requirements

There are no specific language requirements for this program.

Immigration/Entry Requirements

Visa Required: No.  A visa is not required for entry.  However, students will be required to register with the Irish Immigration authorities within a few days of arrival.

Requirements

Students are required to provide a transcript from their home school as part of the application process. 

Students can choose from two 黑料网911courses and a range of direct enrollment courses at UCD. Students will take a U.S. semester load equivalent to 15-18 U.S. credits while studying at UCD. To meet the full U.S. semester credit load requirement, students may opt to take exclusively host institution courses or combine host university courses with 黑料网911courses.

  • Total credit per semester: 15-18 semester/22.5-27 quarter hours
  • Contact hours for 黑料网911courses: 45; credit 鈥 3 semester / 4.5 quarter hours per course

Course Credit

UCD course credits are converted to U.S. credit equivalents as follows: 

  • 5 ECTS Credits = 3 U.S. Semester / 4.5 Quarter Credits
  • 7.5 ECTS Credits = 4 U.S. Semester / 6 Quarter Credits
  • 10 ECTS Credits = 6 U.S. Semester / 9 Quarter Credits

Academic Culture

The Irish educational system requires students to take greater responsibility for learning in a less-structured environment than in the U.S. Students are provided with a syllabus and a broad reading list. Students are required to show initiative regarding research and critical analysis. Courses are called 鈥榤odules鈥 in Ireland and are academically challenging, dynamic, and involve daily reading and homework assignments.

Class Format

Students attend classes with local and international students at UCD. The format is similar to U.S. classes in terms of scheduling and registration. 黑料网911classes are taught by 黑料网911instructors.

Grading

UCD professors give numerical grades which 黑料网911converts to U.S. letter grades. Assessment is based on overall performance, including essays, coursework, and final papers and examinations. In many classes, students are graded on class participation, in-class activities, homework assignments, quizzes, and oral presentations.
