Requirements

All Intern + Study Abroad in Tallinn students take the required 3-credit part-time Internship with the embedded internship seminar plus one additional ASU online course for a total of 6-7 semester credits.

Academic Culture

������911courses are designed to follow U.S. academic culture and standards. The class environment typically features a combination of traditional lecture and discussion with co-curricular excursions and activities. Heavy emphasis is placed on student participation. Similar to classes at U.S. institutions, students should expect to spend an average of two hours of preparation and study for each hour in ������911classes. To avoid falling behind, students should not plan personal travel out of Tallinn when classes are in session and plan trips for the long weekends. 

������911offers a focused and immersive experience for students, blending rigorous coursework with hands-on learning opportunities to deepen understanding of both academic subjects and the local culture. 

������911courses typically run from Monday through Thursday, providing students with a concentrated schedule that allows for intensive study and exploration. This condensed format encourages students to fully engage with the material and make the most of their time. 

In addition to lectures, ������911courses often incorporate local co-curricular activities, providing students with firsthand exposure to the rich cultural heritage and diverse landscapes. These experiences not only enhance academic learning but also foster a deeper appreciation and understanding of the local context. 

Attendance is considered mandatory in ������911courses. This emphasizes the importance of active participation and engagement in the learning process, encouraging students to fully commit to their academic pursuits. 

Arizona State University: Most ASU online courses are asynchronous. You may find yourself in classes with students from ASU, other American universities, and students from around the world. You’ll receive direct and individualized support from faculty, 100% online.

Class Format

Students participate in a 6-week ������911part-time in-person internship and academic course featuring both in-person class sessions and online asynchronous work. Class sessions, co-curricular excursions, and work hours may be scheduled Monday through Friday, and attendance is strictly enforced for all. To avoid falling behind, students should not plan personal travel away from the city during the work week. 

ASU online courses meet in “sessions” that are 6-weeks long in the semester, and all work must be completed within the session dates regardless of when your other ������911courses begin or end.

Grading

������911reports all final course grades to students’ home institutions using a U.S. letter grade equivalent scale of A-F. For CIEE-administered courses, students’ grades are based on attendance, class engagement, homework, project work, presentations, and midterm and final examinations. Learning outcomes assessment is continuous through personal reflections, evaluation feedback, self-assessment, and requirements as set out in course syllabi. The embedded internship course will be assessed in assignments and activities, completion of 100-120 internship hours, and feedback from the internship supervisor. 

ASU grading follows the same format and standards as ASU courses taught in-person. “Pass/fail” or “Audit” is not allowed for ������911students.
